Internet Explorer Script Error using Jquery

Wednesday, September 15, 2010

Using jquery or some javacript framework is almost a given in website development. To avoid the dreaded "Object Required" error message, always include the "$(document).ready(function(){ });" script on the pages using jquery.

This error message does not tend to present itself when using Firefox.  However, ie8 and ie7 will consistently present the javascript error stating "Object Required" and will point you to the location of your jquery script file.  To avoid this make sure that your javacript script file or the page itself has an implementation of the "$(document).ready(function(){ } );" statement.
